Ideas

These two girls are modeling a couple dress ideas for your perusal. The first one has an embroidered overlay for the bodice and sleeves, with a satiny body and tie, and an in-sewn underskirt. The second also has a full-body satiny underlay but on top of the skirt is a light, thin, gauzy material. The back has a bow with a rose in the middle. Around the neck is a layer of 3" lace.

Customizing

Each individual has his or her own style. This is part of what makes sewing for others such fun! I have the opportunity to create results I could not have imagined but that others were able to envision. I would like to have the honor of doing the same for you. I have many, many patterns full of ideas. You can also bring me patterns or pictures of what you would like and I am usually able to make something quite similar to your wishes. I am always happy to dialogue about the various options you have at your disposal. Please feel free to contact me by email (located under "view complete profile").

How Cost is Configured

Since each item I sew takes its own unique amount of time, research, and dedication the fairest way I can configure pricing is as follows:

-Hourly wage: $8.00
-Cost of material, notions (thread, zipper, etc): on your own. Most people bring me the materials they desire me to work with. I then only charge for my hours. However, if you prefer, I can gather the fabric and essential items and just add on the fabric store total to the final bill.

Simplicity

Sometimes a little girl just needs that cute, simple, cotton dress that she can wear to both church and picnics. I have sewn more of these than I can recall! They are easy to dress up or down, customize, and make to please both mom and daughter. Below are the two most recent.

From wedding dress to first Communion dress

This past spring I had a new experience. I was asked to sew a first Communion dress for my goddaughter out of her grandmother's wedding dress! At first I was a little unsure how to even attempt such a project. However, I contacted a local seamstress I know and she kindly shared her suggestions. I left her house knowing this was a project I could complete. Below is the end result.

Dresses, dresses, dresses

Do you sew? Have you always admired the way people can make their own clothes? I know I have! I enjoy talking about sewing, sharing sewing skills, learning from those with so much experience, creating my own inventions, and seeing others comfortable in their uniquely designed items. I hope that on this blog I can share with you results of my interests and make them attractive to you. Please feel free to contact me either through commenting here or emailing me. I look forward to meeting you either in person or virtually. :)

New to this world...

I have thought for years about starting a blog to which I can refer people who desire to see pictures of what I have sewn. I just want to start with a quick post saying I am excited about this and glad you are here! :)
